We are working with a leading UK Top 50 law firm to recruit a Director-level Trusts & Estates Tax specialist for their Bristol office.
This is a senior leadership opportunity within a highly regarded Private Client and Tax practice, offering real strategic influence, high-quality work and the chance to help shape the continued growth of the firm’s Trust and Executor Tax offering in Bristol and the wider region.
The Opportunity
As Director, you will play a pivotal role in leading the Trusts & Estates Tax function in Bristol, managing key client relationships and working closely with Partners on the strategic development of the practice.
The role combines complex, high-value technical work with people leadership, commercial oversight and business development, and will suit an experienced trusts and estates tax professional operating at Senior Manager or Director level.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic and operational leadership of the Trusts & Estates Tax team in Cambridge
- Management of a complex portfolio of high-net-worth trusts and estates
- Ownership of key client relationships and service delivery
- Line management, mentoring and development of team members
- Financial oversight, including budgeting, KPIs and performance management
- Conducting SRA matter reviews and ensuring regulatory compliance
- Driving the development of the firm’s Trust and Executor Tax and Trust Corporation offerings
- Leading internal and external initiatives to grow the Trusts & Estates Tax practice
- Providing senior technical leadership and advisory support across the wider firm
- Oversight of FATCA, CRS and TRS reporting
- Maintaining the highest standards of technical quality, governance and risk management
- Regular collaboration with Partners and senior stakeholders
Candidate Profile
We are keen to speak with candidates who can demonstrate:
- Extensive experience in Trusts & Estates tax advisory
- Strong technical expertise across trust taxation, administration and management
- Experience preparing and reviewing trust accounts
- Proven leadership experience at Senior Manager or Director level
- A commercial mindset with experience contributing to practice growth
- A collaborative and authoritative leadership style
- A track record of developing high-performing teams
- Exposure to Trust Corporations (highly desirable)
