We are recruiting a Private Client Tax Senior Manager for a highly respected and growing accountancy and business advisory firm based in Birmingham. This is an outstanding opportunity for an experienced private client tax professional to join a thriving advisory team, leading a prestigious client portfolio while delivering complex tax planning solutions and playing a key role in the strategic growth of the Private Client Tax function.
This role is ideal for an established Private Client Tax Senior Manager or an experienced Private Client Tax Manager ready to step into a more senior leadership position with greater responsibility for advisory work, client relationships, business development, and team leadership.
The Role
As a Private Client Tax Senior Manager, you will work closely with Partners and Directors to deliver a broad range of private client tax advisory and compliance services to high-net-worth individuals, entrepreneurs, family offices, trusts, estates, and owner-managed businesses.
You will take ownership of a significant portfolio of advisory-focused clients, acting as a trusted adviser while ensuring exceptional client service across both complex planning and compliance matters.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Managing a diverse portfolio of high-net-worth individuals, business owners, trusts, and estates
- Leading complex private client tax advisory projects
- Delivering tax planning advice across Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax, Income Tax, Trusts, and Estate Planning
- Reviewing complex personal tax returns and ensuring technical accuracy
- Preparing and reviewing detailed advisory reports and technical correspondence
- Acting as the main point of contact for clients, HMRC, solicitors, wealth managers, and other professional advisers
- Identifying tax planning opportunities and providing commercially focused advice
- Supporting Partners with complex advisory assignments and strategic client work
- Leading client meetings and building long-term trusted relationships
Alongside your client responsibilities, you will play a significant role in the continued growth of the Private Client Tax team. This will include supporting business development initiatives, identifying new opportunities, networking, delivering technical presentations, and contributing to thought leadership and marketing activities.
You will also lead and mentor Managers, Assistant Managers, and junior team members, helping to develop technical capability while maintaining the highest professional standards across the department.
This role offers excellent exposure to high-value advisory work, strategic leadership, and a clear pathway towards Director.
About You
You will be CTA, ACA, ATT qualified, or possess equivalent experience gained within a UK accountancy practice or professional services environment.
You will have extensive experience across both private client tax compliance and advisory work, with a strong technical background and a proven ability to manage complex client relationships.
You will demonstrate:
- Significant experience in UK Private Client Tax
- Strong technical knowledge across Income Tax, Capital Gains Tax, Inheritance Tax, Trusts, and Estate Planning
- Experience managing a substantial portfolio of high-net-worth clients
- A proven track record delivering complex advisory projects
- Strong leadership and people management skills
- Excellent client relationship and stakeholder management abilities
- Commercial awareness with the ability to identify business development opportunities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- A collaborative, proactive, and solutions-focused approach
