We’re recruiting an Accounts Senior in Glasgow on behalf of a well-established and growing accountancy practice. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated accountant to take ownership of advisory and compliance work, develop technical expertise, and build strong client relationships across a varied business portfolio.


The Role

As Accounts Senior – Business Advisory, you will manage allocated advisory and accounts work from start to finish, ensuring delivery meets the firm’s policies, procedures, and high-quality standards.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Preparing draft accounts from client records, clearing review points, and finalising accounts
  • Preparing initial business and personal tax computations, ensuring standards are met and budgets are realistic
  • Coordinating tax and advisory work with the manager responsible for the client
  • Engaging with relationship managers and staff from other business lines to gain a thorough understanding of client businesses
  • Liaising with client staff on-site, building effective professional relationships
  • Monitoring budgeted versus actual time spent and flagging issues or overruns promptly
  • Keeping the Manager informed of matters affecting budgets, fees, or timelines
  • Keeping clients informed of progress and issues while maintaining confidentiality
  • Completing accounts files and all required documentation accurately and on time

You will also have the opportunity to identify additional advisory opportunities to support clients and contribute to the growth of the practice.


About You

You will have a background in public practice and one of the following:

  • Qualified or near completion of AAT, CA, ACCA, or equivalent
  • Strong experience in accounts and business advisory work, even without a formal professional qualification

You will demonstrate:

  • Strong IT skills and experience using accounting software such as Sage, Xero, and QuickBooks
  • A good understanding of clients’ accounting systems and processes
  • Some experience in tax preparation is advantageous
  • Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple deadlines
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build professional relationships
  • A proactive and client-focused approach

You are detail-oriented, technically competent, and motivated to take ownership of your work while supporting the growth of your clients’ businesses.
