We're recruiting an Accounts Manager in Worcester on behalf of a highly regarded and growing independent accountancy and business advisory firm. This is an excellent opportunity for an ACA or ACCA qualified accountant to join a collaborative team, managing a varied portfolio of owner-managed businesses while delivering high-quality accounting, tax, and business advisory services.

This role is ideal for an experienced Accounts Manager or an ambitious Assistant Manager looking to step into a broader client-facing position with increased responsibility, leadership opportunities, and a clear pathway for progression.


The Role

As an Accounts Manager, you will manage a diverse portfolio of clients, acting as their trusted adviser while delivering a comprehensive range of accounting, taxation, and business advisory services.

Working closely with Directors and Partners, you will take ownership of client relationships, ensuring work is delivered efficiently, accurately, and to the highest professional standards.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Managing a portfolio of owner-managed businesses across a wide range of sectors
  • Reviewing statutory accounts prepared under UK GAAP
  • Reviewing corporation tax and personal tax returns
  • Overseeing bookkeeping, VAT returns, and management accounts
  • Leading client meetings and providing commercial business advice
  • Acting as the primary point of contact for clients and developing long-term relationships
  • Identifying advisory opportunities and cross-selling additional services
  • Monitoring WIP, billing, recoverability, and portfolio profitability
  • Supporting new client onboarding and fee proposals
  • Ensuring compliance deadlines are met while maintaining excellent technical standards

You will also play an important leadership role within the team, mentoring and developing Assistant Managers, Seniors, and Trainees, providing technical support and helping to maintain a collaborative and high-performing culture.

About You

You will be ACA or ACCA qualified with strong experience gained within a UK accountancy practice.

You will have experience managing a client portfolio and reviewing accounts and tax work, with the confidence to build trusted relationships and provide commercially focused advice.

You'll demonstrate:

  • ACA or ACCA qualification
  • Strong UK accountancy practice experience
  • Experience managing a portfolio of business clients
  • Excellent technical knowledge of statutory accounts and business taxation
  • Experience reviewing work and mentoring junior staff
  • Strong commercial awareness, including WIP and fee management
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Experience using cloud accounting software such as Xero, QuickBooks, Sage, or similar
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
